Weekly Round-Up: Jan 29-Feb 4

Updated: Feb 10, 2023

Please excuse our tardiness on only the second-ever weekly round-up. A slight travel hiccup caused an extended stay and thus disrupting our normal posting schedule. That'll teach me to travel without my computer in the future. Oh well, the journey is part of the adventure.

This past week was filled with some cruise news as well as some great content from CruiseNReview. From Alaska to cruising myths debunked. Here is our weekly round-up for the week of January 29 to February 4:

Alaska: A Guide to the 2023 Cruising Season

There is truly nothing like cruising Alaska. It took us years to try our first Alaskan cruise because we loved the warm waters and beautiful beaches of the Caribbean. Once we did it, we couldn't believe it took us that long. It's a bucket list thing. Everyone needs to experience this place at least once in their life. Read out detailed guide to the 2023 season here.

10 Reasons People won't Cruise...and Why They're Wrong

In this column, we take a look at ten reasons people have given us about why they won't cruise and why those concerns may be misplaced. Why? Since our featured story this week was the 2023 Alaskan cruising season, we had to pick an Alaska cruise for our cruise of the week, right? This one made our top five for top Alaskan cruises this summer. Coming in at number three, there is only one chance this summer to take this cruise. It's one that falls under the "if money is no object" label. It's pricey, but anything over 7-nights in Alaska is rare and it gives guest the option to have a round trip cruise that features Hubbard Glacier and most of the popular ports-of-call in Alaska. Typically, Hubbard Glacier is reserved for open-jawed cruises (Embark at one port, disembark at another). This cruise, because of length, works it into a closed-loop. To top it off, it's on Disney Cruise Line, which is always one of the top rated cruise lines each year. The voyage features the Silver Anniversary at Sea celebration if that sort of thing excites you.

Photo of the Week

This week's photo was posted by Cruceros Puerto Rico on Facebook. It's a nice picture of Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas arriving into San Juan, Puerto Rico.

This picture struck a cord with us for a few reasons. First, our next cruise, which we will be live blogging in a couple of week's is out departing from San Juan. Second, Grandeur of the Seas is one of our favorite ships and our most recent cruise was onboard this ship. She's a magnificent, classy, yet older ship that embodies the spirit of cruising. Finally, "in-motion" photos of ships are the best. This picture of the ship sailing into the port of San Juan past Castillo San Felipe del Morro is hard to beat

If you have a photo you would like to submit to be our weekly photo of the week, e-mail it to us with your name, the location of the photo, and the date it was taken to info@cruisenreview.com.
