Disney Cruise Line will add a second private destination in the Summer of 2024 after it announced the development of Lighthouse Point. It will be located on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas.
In a Disney Cruise Line blog post, Senior Manager of Public Relations Evily Giannopoulos Peros wrote that it will be created in close collaboration with local artists and advisors and will be a "unique celebration of Bahamian culture brought to life with the quality and service of a Disney vacation."
The release compares activities and offerings to those at Castaway Cay, Bahamas, Disney's first private island destination. "At Lighthouse Point, families will enjoy a day of fun in the sun as they relax on pristine beaches, embark on active adventures and discover the magic of Bahamian storytelling alongside favorite Disney characters," Peros wrote.
Lighthouse Point will have a dedicated area for children ages 3 to 12 with highly-trained Disney Cruise Line counselors. There will be a splashpad inspired by Disney's "The Little Mermaid."
Additionally, premium family cabanas will be available to rent as well as Disney Port Adventures, dining, and chairs/umbrellas along the pristine Bahamian beach.
This news seems similar to that announced by Royal Caribbean this week. The competitor line will launch the Royal Beach Club in 2025 and touted a local flair and culture. It will be located on Paradise Island in Nassau and will open in 2025.
Disney said Lighthouse Point will open to its first guests on select sailings starting in the Summer of 2024.
